Grabbys, Nancy Pelosi and India
I am finally able to update my blog! Right now I am in Goa, India, trying to relax after a very stressful past few months. The last time I left off here I was going to post an update about The Grabbys, but I just didn't have enough time to really write anything, nor did I have any pictures to post. Lately, I have not been in the mood to post random pics on here, especially when I am not doing anything exciting and Chicago definitely fell into that category...ooops, yep, I said it, my time in Chicago was lack luster as compared to last year's event. First, I had major problems with a totally bitchy TSA agent at Miami airport and very nasty American Airlines staff who delayed me leaving for Chicago. When I finally did arrive, I went to Chi Chi's party where the atmosphere was very strange. Chi Chi was spinning awesome tunes and people were dancing around the dance floor but not exactly on it. The mood was very strange and lacked the fun of past events, but then again, the porn world is changing very quickly for the worse.
Instead of going out Friday night rich and I stayed in and worked. The following day I had to fly to Minneapolis and back before going on to the Grabby's where I was only nominated for best foreign film, a category I fought to be included in since all but one of my movies have been filmed overseas. To preface what I am about to write, I am NOT a sore loser and never entered this business to win any awards (the awards are a special perk that give one confidence in their work but usually, unlike 10 years ago, do not bring any additional income). Now, I DO stake my ground when it comes to my work. I work VERY hard to produce my own content in addition to doing all the accounting and planning for my business of which, between my business partner, Rich, and myself own 100% of our business. In the past few months I took Raging Stallion off my box covers, created my own label, and filed all copyrights for my movies officially to ensure I received credit for my work. I do not know anybody, no mater what job they hold, that would not want to receive full credit for their own hard work. So about 2 months ago I read a review of my "East Berlin" that mentioned Raging Stallion throughout it so I immediately felt I needed to correct this mistake and in the process picked a fight that I believe led to my lack of winning a Grabby (even though I was assured to walk away with an award by an insider). I love winning awards and writing this may prevent me from winning any more in the future, but I cannot stand by and have another company be given credit for my hard work. Enough said....but I had to get it out of my system.
So after Chicago I went home for a day and then off to San Francisco to see my bambino and do some work. I am only mentioning this little bit because since American Airlines removed the 767 from the Miami to San Francisco route I now go through LA on their 767 to ensure I have a restful flat bed experience for the 5 hours. (by the way, I will be posting travel tips on my new webiste www.worldofmen.com soon). On the way out rapper Shaggy was sitting in front of me and Matt Damon 2 seats in front to the right....very cool....and best of all, I had Nancy Pelosi sitting behind me on my flight from San Francisco to LA and when the plane landed, before she was whisked down the stairs to her government vehicle, I had to thank her for giving me faith again that my government is going to return to going in the right direction. She firmly shook my hand through my spiel to her while thanking me over and over and looking me straight in the eyes before hugging me then being escorted away with, um, secret service? Ms. Pelosi is a very nice and wonderful woman in person and I just had to mention it. (Shaggy, on the other hand was less than personable when I warned another passenger about pushing me or him to get to the front of the plane.)
So this all leads me to one of my trips I take every year to an exotic destination without my professional camera: India. On our flight from Miami to Chicago Rich chatted up the flight attendants while I tried to rest, but I finally decided to go see what was going on between Rich and the flight attendants. After about an hour or so Rich divulged to Beth, a wonderful South African woman, who I was exactly (Collin O'Neal) and she asked me for my autograph for one of her "boyfriends." I have had many ups and downs lately with the airline I fly constantly, but when you run into flight attendants like Beth and her co-workers, well, it puts a big smile on my face. After working feverishly at the First Class lounge at O'Hare to make sure I had all my "t's crossed and i's dotted" before the big trip Rich and I boarded a 14 1/2 hour flight to New Delhi.
Thankfully it went by fast with the help of flat bed business class, Xanax, Ambien, Skyy Vodka, and my strategic collection of other pillows and comforters to make sure I dreamed away the long flight.
I'm now going to save most of my India stories for my next post, but I was inspired to do something unique that you may find interesting in the coming weeks. You see, I came to India about 7 years ago when I was 26 for about 3 weeks and on about $8 a day. I tried my best this time to follow in those footsteps, but definitely not on $8 a day, but rather about $80, but my planning failed miserably. I think in my old age I just can't put up with as much as I use to. So I will be scanning in the diary I kept and some pics from years ago and juxtapose them to the story I will be writing about my current journey. Oh, and all of you travel whores out there, check back in a few days because I will be posting something you will drool over....its a secret right now because I have kept it from Rich. So, tootles for now...oh, and bambino, sorry I have been incommunicado, but where I am at right now has no cell service and my fancy hotel's in room wi-fi does not work so I can't call you from skype!
